This is the source code for Music Collector 2.3

This code is being released in hopes that it will teach you something about ADO, Classes, User Controls, multiple languages NOT in a resource file, simple encryption, subclassing, and more.

The only thing I ask in return is that if you improve the program, please send me the updated code. My feeling is that a program like this is never done. There are always improvements that can be made or features that can be added.

Stay tuned to the Music Collector Homepage (http://home.ti.cz/~bghost) for future updates, or join the mailing list that notifies you when new versions are released, which is available through the web site.

It will only compile with VB6 SP3, as there are collection objects and VB6 specific commands used throughout the program. The type libraries that the program uses are included in the package. The ampconst.tlb is only the constants used by WinAmp and I doubt if you'll ever need it for another program. The JHWIN32.TLB is my Windows type library that removes the need to use WIN32API.TXT which comes with VB and is full of bugs. You are welcome to use this in your projects. See my web site for more information about type libraries if you're interested in them.

The code is well commented so you should be able to follow what's happening without too much difficulty, although some routines are quite complex. Since the program uses multiple language modules, it is sometimes difficult to see from the source code what is going to be diplayed to the user. I recommend that you look at the display.txt file and even perhaps print it as it lists the numbers used in the LS() array and the corresponding text that is associated with each number. By looking at this list you can see what text will be displayed when it is using one of the elements from the LS() array. If you're interested you can even create your own language files simply by translating the English.txt file (and save the traslation with a new name) then run encrypt.exe and it will create an MCL file with your new language. See the notes at the end of English.txt for more information.

You do NOT have rights to redistribute this code, in whole or in part without my permission. You also may not recompile the code and release it as another program without my permission. If you would like to modify this code and distribute it in either as source code or as a compiled program or components, please contact me at bghost@ti.cz before doing so.

If you are interested in using some of the controls or classes in your project, you can download versions of them that are not so customized to Music Collector, so they will be easier to incorperate into your own programs. Again, see my web page for more details.
